The Full Story
It is with deep regret that I have to join the many shops pausing shipping to the EU today.
I will still ship locally in the Netherlands, The Americas, Australia, UK, and Canada. However I have stopped all other EU destination parcels. You may have seen shops announce this if you're within the European Union, If you haven't yet here is more info. The new Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR), which requires any business shipping into the EU to pay and register separately with a national body in addition to appointing an authorized representative in every country it sells to, and then to continue reporting to each one. All of this will amount to several hundred euros annually per destination country. I did the math and at the low end it's around 10k higher end full compliance upwards of 27k. At this time that is not feezible for me to cover, and I simply would not try to navigate this by adding additional fees to even start. I am registered in some countries but appointing a representative on top of that will simply not work. I am a creator and a small business, the Union has not made any distinction between small creators vs big box corporations. It will impact the arts mostly, but it may also impact parts that are made for bicycles and everyday goods if this legislation remains in place. There is a vote that will happen in October, whether that goes in our favor depends on how loud our voices are as consumers and small business' alike. I hope to have more news available soon if there are any updates I will update this page. Below my signature are links to petitions and how you can help.
Sincerely,
Andrea Soror R.L.

What to write:
Briefly explain that you are a small business owner / creator / customer and that mandatory EPR registration fees and cross-border bureaucracy make it impossible for small independent businesses to sell across EU borders. Demand a de minimis exemption or a simplified One Stop Shop system for micro-entrepreneurs.
